This Hot Toddy takes a comforting turn with the addition of lemon, ginger and honey. The toddy is excellent for sipping either before or after a meal, or if you're feeling a bit under the weather. Add a roaring fire, and you have the recipe for warming up a wintry night.
While a hot toddy can’t cure a cold or the flu—as it was thought to do when the drink was invented in the late 19th century—it sure can soothe the soul.

Essential Ingredients
Bourbon or Rum: I like to make my hot toddy with rum, but you could certainly use bourbon for it as well. Whatever spirit you choose, it will add a distinct character to a hot toddy—bourbon brings a robust sweetness, while rum adds a tropical depth, elevating the drink's overall warmth and complexity.
Lemon: The lemon provides a bright, citrusy contrast, balancing the rich flavors. Its aromatic oils enhance the drink, offering a refreshing and comforting element to the warmth.
Honey: Honey adds natural sweetness, soothing the throat. And it contributes a a velvety texture, complementing the robust spirits.
Recipe Tips
- Opt for raw honey as a natural sweetener; it adds a soothing touch and complements the whiskey's robust flavor.
- Use hot water, not boiling, to preserve the alcohol's nuanced taste; let the toddy steep for a comforting warmth.
- Garnish with a twist of lemon peel; the citrusy aroma enhances the hot toddy experience, balancing the rich, spiced notes.

Great idea adding ginger to a hot Toddy!!
BTW: The 1oz (30ml) alcohol measurement doesn’t change when choosing the larger quantities option x2 or x3
