Marbled Pound Cake

This marbled pound cake reminds me of yin and yang. Dark chocolate cake entwined with light vanilla that combines beautifully and deliciously as a whole.

Beat butter with sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs and yolk, one at a time and beating well after each addition.

Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.  Alternately beat in flour mixture with  milk until blended.

Transfer 1 ½ cups batter to  bowl. Stir in cocoa powder and melted butter.

Spread 1/3 of vanilla batter in bottom of loaf pan. Dollop with 1/2 of chocolate batter. Repeat with vanilla and remainder  chocolate. Top with rest of vanilla batter.

Using chopstick or tip of knife, cut 4 swirls into batter.

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour 10 minutes. Cool completely, then slice and serve!
